BELGRADE, February 14. /TASS/. Kosovo’s far-right Vetevendosje (Self-Determination) party of former Prime Minister Albin Kurti is winning Sunday’s parliamentary polls in Kosovo, as follows from the results of the exit poll conducted by PIPOS, a Pristina-based pollster.
Thus, Self-Determination is winning about 41.8% of the vote. It is followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo of former President Hashim Thaci, who has been taken in custody by an international court. The party is winning 16.5% of votes. Next are the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (15.2%), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (7.2%). National minorities are scoring 16.7% of votes.
According to the Central Election Commission, the voter turnout was 46.27%.
Polling stations opened at 07:00 a.m. local time (09:00 a.m. Moscow Time) and closed at 19:00 local time (21:00 Moscow time). As many as 1,079 candidates from 28 lists compete for 120 seats in the parliament. Some 1,794,862 people are eligible to vote, 143,000 fewer than in 2019. It is the seventh snap elections (the eighth in total), as in the self-proclaimed republic’s 13-year history, no parliament managed to work until the end of its mandate.
Some 20 out of 120 seats belong to national minorities, with 10 seats for the Serbs. Three parties representing the Serbian population of Kosovo and Metohija joined the race for 10 parliamentary seats, with the Serb List party being the most likely winner.
