MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. On Sunday, Ukraine voted in the first round of the seventh presidential election in its history. The record number of candidates - 39 people - was registered.
Among the frontrunners are popular comic actor Vladimir Zelenskiy, trailing behind him is former prime minister and leader of the Batkivschina party, Yulia Tymoshenko, and in third place is the current president Pytor Poroshenko.
With over 45% of ballots counted, Zelensky has won 30.15% of the vote, while Poroshenko and Tymoshenko garnered 16.71% and 13.09%, respectively, the Central Election Commission said.
The runoff election is scheduled for April 21.
