Expert advises Russia to invest more in AI, quantum sensorics

Russian Special Representative for Digital Development Dmitry Peskov referred to to the spread of AI-generated images, while a roadmap on using quantum sensorics includes building sensors to get more out of AI’s potential

SKOLKOVO /Moscow Region/, April 10. /TASS/. Russia is not getting the most out of artificial intelligence (AI), as combining it with quantum technology could open a world of possibilities in image generation, said Russian Special Representative for Digital Development Dmitry Peskov.

"Artificial Intelligence <...> is quite a revolution, and everybody knows and understands that. <…> [But] instead of investing in sensorics which generates authentic physical data from deposits, <...> [Russian companies] have been resorting to 2D photography," the expert lamented.

"As a result, AI has so far been 'all about cats' or attempts at exploration using 'cats,'" Peskov said, referring to the spread of AI-generated images, while a roadmap on using quantum sensorics includes building sensors to get more out of AI’s potential, he argued.

Meanwhile, the economy needs quantum sensorics, or "the most mature" technology, the most, the expert continued. "There are great startups [in Russia] that have been supplying single-photon quantum sensors already," he added as he bemoaned "certain issues" around this area.
