MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russia holds a leading position in terms of the absolute scale of employment in science, it ranks fifth in the world in terms of the number of specialists engaged in scientific research and development, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
"Russia remains one of the world leaders in terms of the absolute scale of employment in science," he said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council on Science and Education. "In terms of the number of people working in research and development, our country ranks fifth in the world," the politician added.
Medvedev pointed out that Russia is also a leader in terms of spending on science. Thus, in 2022, according to him, the amount of allocated funds for this sphere amounted to 1.4 trillion rubles ($15,226,582,000). "At the same time, the total cost of innovation activities amounted to 2 trillion 700 billion rubles ($29,365,551,000)," the official noted.
