CAIRO, November 18. /TASS/. A special flight of the Russian Emergencies Ministry carrying 120 Russian citizens, evacuated from the Gaza Strip on Friday, has taken off from Cairo heading to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, TASS reported.
The evacuees are accompanied on board by doctors and psychologists of the Emergencies Ministry. The IL-76 plane is expected to land in the Russian capital in slightly more than five hours. In the Egyptian capital, 136 more Russian nationals are waiting for the next flight.
Earlier on Saturday, 216 people, who had crossed the Rafah border checkpoint, were transported to Cairo.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry in coordination with diplomats organized the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is raging. Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that more than 1,000 people, including Russian citizens and compatriots, had asked to be evacuated.
