MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has not ruled out the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin holding talks with US President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.
"It is not out of the question," the spokesman told reporters when asked about the matter. "He did say he would call Putin before the inauguration. These are his words; we have nothing else to add for now," he added.
The United States Presidential Inauguration will be held on January 20, 2025.
When responding to the question of whether high-level contacts between Russia and the United States could be resumed by conducting a meeting between Putin and Trump right away or if there should be a phone conversation first, the Kremlin spokesman clarified that such meetings do not happen instantly. The event must be thoroughly prepared at the expert level. "There is no work [towards it] so far. Besides, it is too early, who should we work with as of now?" he added.
