MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. More than two-thirds of voters abroad voted for Incumbent President Vladimir Putin in Russia’s presidential election, Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Deputy Chairman Nikolay Bulayev told TASS.
"The results of the Russian presidential election abroad have shown that out of everyone who voted, over two-thirds of the voters cast their ballots for Incumbent President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," Bulayev told TASS.
On Wednesday, the CEC press service said that the Territorial Election Commission (TEC) managing overseas polling stations had confirmed the results of voting in the Russian presidential election. A total of 383,553 voters cast their ballots at 288 polling stations abroad.
Russia held its first-ever three-day presidential election on March 15-17, in which around one-third of the country’s regions offered voters the option of voting online. According to data from the Central Election Commission (CEC), incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ran as an independent, self-nominated candidate, garnered 87.28% of the vote, with 100% of the ballots counted. The voter turnout was the highest in Russia’s modern history, with 77.44% of eligible voters going to the polls.
