Over 70 civilians killed by Ukrainian military shelling in LPR over year — ombudsperson

Viktoriya Serdyukova emphasized that the ombudsman's office informs the UN monthly about violations committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, expecting the UN to conduct an inspection

LUGANSK, December 28. /TASS/. More than 70 civilians of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), including three children, have been killed since the beginning of the year due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' shelling, LPR Human Rights Commissioner Viktoriya Serdyukova said.

"We have been monitoring the consequences of Ukrainian aggression all year long, we have been receiving information from the [Russian] Investigative Committee regarding the destruction, injuries, and civilian casualties. <...> The figures have significantly decreased compared to last year. This year, according to the statistics, 72 people died, including three children, and 268 people were wounded, including 19 children. In terms of damage to the civilian structure, the figure is 896 so far. We are expecting to receive detailed data from the authorities by the year's end," she said at a briefing in Lugansk.

Serdyukova emphasized that the ombudsman's office informs the UN monthly about violations committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, expecting the UN to conduct an inspection. However, in the two years of the office's work, "not a single inspection has been initiated."
