MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Strategic energy cooperation between Russia and China will continue to develop, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, commenting on last month’s US move to add the Arctic LNG-2 liquified natural gas project to its sanctions list.
"We are confident that the strategic cooperation in energy between Russia and China will continue to develop progressively and strengthen. While the situation around Arctic LNG-2 is yet another indication that Washington has been playing a disruptive role in global economic security," the diplomat emphasized.
According to Zakharova, while the United States declares the need to maintain energy security in words, it actually destroys it by "pursuing its own self-serving interests and trying to edge out rivals in business." "Such steps only complicate things in energy supply chains and result in higher energy prices for end consumers," she continued.
Zakharova dismissed such actions as "categorically unacceptable," especially as regards Arctic LNG-2 and other large international civilian projects that affect the energy balance of numerous countries, she concluded.
