MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali discussed the Gaza Strip and a solution to the Palestinian issue, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov shared information about the results of the Sixth Session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum held in Marrakesh on December 20. It was said that such a format of communication with the Arab League and its members provides an opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of pressing regional issues of mutual interest," the ministry said. "The current situation in the Gaza Strip and the prospects for resolving the Palestinian issue in general attracted particular attention."

The Russian side "also reaffirmed the principled position on the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of Arab nations and Iran and emphasized its unwavering respect for their sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity."

"It was stated that Moscow and Tehran are firmly focused on maintaining a proactive political dialogue and coordinating approaches in favor of peaceful solutions to crises and conflicts in the Middle East," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
