LONDON, December 22. /TASS/. The UK government fails to notice real events in Ukraine and will not change the tone of its rhetoric in order not to admit its failures, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin has told TASS.
"The UK government continues to turn a blind eye to real events in Ukraine, [ignoring the fact] that the Russian troops have seized the initiative, that they began advancing from east to west. They are now trying to find some questionable local successes, justifying and promoting their rhetoric about determination to continue helping Kiev," the ambassador said.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden changed his pledge about assisting Ukraine from "as long as it takes" to "as long as we can." Kelin expects the UK government to stick to its old ‘as long as it takes’ slogan until the next year’s elections regardless of actual events on the ground.
"Otherwise, they will have to admit that their strategy had failed and to explain themselves to the public and the parliament about their strategic miscalculation of colossal proportions," the Russian ambassador said. "It was a huge failure, and now they are putting a brave face on a bad situation and will keep doing so in the future,".
