MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Moscow is still prepared to conduct negotiations with Kiev and would prefer to achieve the fulfillment of its demands precisely via a political and diplomatic path, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"The president [of Russia Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly said that the important thing for us is to reach our objectives [in connection with the Ukrainian crisis]. And, of course, mainly we would prefer to do so via political and diplomatic means. This is why we are still ready for talks," he told RTVI.
Peskov reiterated that it was precisely the Ukrainian side that had aborted the negotiation process in the spring of 2022. "They themselves have admitted that this was done at the insistence and on the orders of the United Kingdom, the British. So the situation is entirely transparent," he noted.
The Kremlin official also commented on an article in the Izvestia newspaper, saying that talks between Moscow and Kiev could resume under the aegis of some Western country, for example, Hungary. "This article presents what is essentially a theoretical conclusion," the presidential spokesman demurred.
