No meeting of nuclear 'five' planned before end of this year — deputy foreign minister

"We have laid out our proposals on the agenda and the approximate schedule, and, apparently, we may receive some response from other members of the 'five,'" Sergey Ryabkov specified

Russia as the coordinator of the nuclear "five" format (China, France, Russia, the UK and the US) plans no events before the end of 2023, and schedules the agenda, proposed to other format participants, for 2024, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

"There is not 'five' [meeting planned]. We schedule everything for the next year," he said, answering a question. "We have laid out our proposals on the agenda and the approximate schedule, and, apparently, we may receive some response from other members of the 'five.' But, in any case, the entire coordination program lies in the next year."

In August, the chairmanship in the association switched from the US to Russia. In October, Ryabkov announced working-level meeting of representatives of the 'five.' Speaking in an interview for the Kommersant, the high-ranking diplomat noted that Russia, as a coordinator of the format, does not want to limit it to the topic of reduction of nuclear risks alone.
