MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Russian diplomats are making every effort in the situation with Russian hostages in the Gaza Strip, but in the current conditions it is difficult to talk about detailed information, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Certain contacts are being carried out for this purpose, our diplomats are working. Of course, in the current conditions it is difficult to talk about detailed information, but our diplomats are making every effort," he said.
The spokesman pointed out that not all Russians in the Gaza Strip are in contact with the Russian embassy. "There is [communication] with some of them, <...> there are quite different situations here. You know that registration is not obligatory, it is voluntary for those citizens who live abroad," Peskov added.
According to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman Daniel Hagari, the number of hostages being held in Gaza is at least 222.
The Russian embassy in Israel told TASS on Friday that at least two Russians were being held hostage.
