ASTANA, November 23. /TASS/. The guarantor countries of the Astana process on Syria (Russia, Iran and Turkey) condemn Israel’s ongoing attacks in Syria, according to a joint statement adopted at the 19th international Astana meeting on Syria.
The parties "condemned Israel’s military attacks in Syria, which particularly target civilian facilities." According to the statement, "such actions violate international law, international humanitarian law, Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" and "raise tensions in the region."
The three countries also confirmed the need to respect universally recognized international legal decisions, including the provisions of UN resolutions rejecting the occupation of Syrian Golan, first and foremost, UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 497, which view Israel’s decisions and steps in this regard as invalid.
The guarantors of the Astana process stressed that there could be no military solution to the Syrian conflict. They also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Syrian-led and Syrian-owned, UN-facilitated long-term political process in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
