TOKYO, December 9. /TASS/. An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 has been recorded off the northern coast of Japan near Aomori Prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

According to the report, the earthquake’s epicenter laid at a depth of 22 km.

Earlier on Monday evening, a stronger earthquake measuring 7.6 struck northern Japan, injuring at least 23 people, the Associated Press reported. A tsunami warning was issued for the east and northeast coasts but was later canceled.
