Inflation accelerates to 0.37% in Russia over week — statistics

According to statistics, prices gained 1.4% for butter, 1.3% for cheese, 1.2% for sunflower oil, 1.1% for frozen fish, 0.9% for pasteurized milk, sour cream and hen eggs

MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. Inflation in Russia stood at 0.37% from November 12 to 18, 2024, the Russian federal statistical service (Rosstat) said.

Inflation was 0.3% a week earlier. Consumer prices in the country ticked up by 7.41% year to date and 0.79% from early November. Inflation stood at 8.61% in annual terms as at November 11, 2024.

According to statistics, prices gained 1.4% for butter, 1.3% for cheese, 1.2% for sunflower oil, 1.1% for frozen fish, 0.9% for pasteurized milk, sour cream and hen eggs, 0.8% for sterilized milk, 0.6% for curd, 0.5% for cooked sausages, 0.4% for beef, sausages, frankfurters, dry infant formulas, wheat bread and pasta, 0.3% for half-smoked and cooked smoked sausages, vermicelli and cookies, and 0.2% for chicken meat, rye bread, rice and millets. Fruits and vegetables prices had an uptick by 4.1% in average, particularly for cucumbers (+11.3%), tomatoes (+6%), white cabbage (+4.7%), onions (+4.4%), potatoes (+3.8%), beet (+1.6%), carrots (+1.3%), bananas (+1.2%), and apples (+1%). Prices declined for buckwheat and canned meat and vegetables for infants by 0.2%.

Among the other nonfoods, the rise in prices was 0.3% for TV sets and 0.2% for filter-tipped cigarettes. Prices dropped by 0.5% for vacuum cleaners. Gasoline and diesel fuel prices hiked by 0.5% and 0.3% respectively.
