About 20 armed individuals attack polling station in Abkhazia

Following the incident in the town of Tsandrypsh, the election committee said that the situation was under control

SUKHUM, March 1. /TASS/. A polling station in Abkhazia was attacked by a group of armed masked individuals who were threatening members of the election committee, the republic’s Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement.

Following the incident in the town of Tsandrypsh, the election committee said that the situation was under control. Law enforcement agencies tried to detain the perpetrators who opened fire, wounding two individuals. Criminal charges were filed over the incident.

The attack took place during the second round of the presidential election underway in Abkhazia.
