22 international flights canceled due to Bali volcano eruption

TOKYO, November 13. /TASS/. More than 20 international flights have been canceled on the Indonesian island of Bali due to the Mount Lewotobi eruption, the Antara news outlet reported, citing the director of Ngurah Rai International Airport.

According to him, 12 domestic and 22 international flights have been canceled so far. The airport itself has not yet been covered by volcanic ash, he added.

The eruption of Mount Lewotobi began on November 4. The volcano gushed a column of hot ash 2,000 meters into the sky. The eruption caused fires in nearby settlements. Authorities have evacuated more than 10,000 residents. Nine people are currently reported dead and 63 injured. Four airports have been temporarily closed.
