Rosatom calls global community 'not to rock nuclear boat' to please political ambitions

"We simply do not need any other nuclear energy," Kirill Komarov noted

SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, March 26. /TASS/. Rosatom calls on the global community "not to rock the nuclear boat" for the sake of political ambitions, said First Deputy Director General of the Russian nuclear state corporation Kirill Komarov at the Atomexpo 2024 forum.

"We absolutely share the position, which has already been expressed many times, including as part of this forum, that there is no good or bad nuclear energy, there is no nuclear energy that is politically correct or incorrect. There is nuclear energy, it must be professional, safe. It must be accessible for all humanity. We simply do not need any other nuclear energy. Therefore, we once again, being market leaders and <...> the company that produces a lot of products, we call on everyone to be very careful, thoughtful and by all means not to rock our nuclear boat to please some political ambitions," he said.

Earlier, the US State Department added three subsidiaries of Rosatom - JSC Rusatom Arctic, LLC Innohub and Federal State Unitary Enterprise Alexandrov Research Institute of Technology - to the sanctions list for Russia. However, Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, told Reuters that the introduction of sanctions by the West against Rosatom would lead the nuclear industry of many Western countries to a dead end.

The 13th International Forum Atomexpo-2024 takes place on March 25-26 on the federal territory of Sirius, Sochi.

Established in 2009, the Atomexpo international forum, organized with support from Russia’s state-run nuclear corporation Rosatom, was held annually for a decade until a decision was made in 2019 to make the event biennial. The forum format includes an exhibition and an extensive business program, the main topics of which are traditionally the development of nuclear energy as an environmentally friendly source of energy; human capital management, creation of nuclear energy infrastructure, financing and investment in the energy sector, development of non-power nuclear technologies etc.
