MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. Gazprom will supply China with more than 22.5 billion cubic meters of gas this year, while contractual obligations provide for 22 billion cubic meters, the company’s CEO Alexey Miller said.
According to him, Gazprom will increase gas supplies to China by one and a half times this year.
"I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the volume of additional gas supplies since the start of the Power of Siberia commissioning is the maximum compared to all previous years. The volume of supplies to China in 2023 will amount to over 22.5 billion cubic meters of gas with our contractual obligations being 22 billion cubic meters," he said at a meeting summing up the preliminary results of the year.
Miller also expressed confidence that the company will supply China with the 38 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025 as provided for in the contract.
"In 2025, dear colleagues, and there is no doubt about this, we will reach the contractual volumes of gas supplies to the People’s Republic of China - [they are] 38 billion cubic meters of gas. And I am sure that we will continue to regularly update records of daily gas supply to this country," the head of Gazprom said.
Miller noted that the company has begun implementing a project for the creation of the "Far Eastern" gas supply route to China, gas supplies along which will begin no later than 2027. Gazprom also continues to work on ensuring supplies through Mongolia.
At the end of 2022, Russia exported 15.5 billion cubic meters of gas via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to China. Supplies through the Power of Siberia are carried out under a bilateral long-term gas purchase and sale agreement signed between Gazprom and CNPC.
