MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Electricity generation in Russia in November 2023 increased by 1.1% compared to November 2022 and reached 105 bln kWh, according to the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
In particular, Russian thermal power plants in November edged generation up by 0.4% year on year to 68.5 bln kWh, remaining the main supplier of electricity to the country's unified energy system with a share of 63.3% of total electricity production. Nuclear power plants decreased output by 8.1% to 19 bln kWh, while hydroelectric power plants increased electricity production by 16.8% to 16.9 bln kWh.
Renewable energy generation facilities produced 642 mln kWh of electricity in November (an increase of 5.9% in annual terms).
In January - November 2023, total electricity production in Russia increased in annual terms by 0.6%, to 1,061 bln kWh.
Generation at thermal power plants increased by 1.9% to 671 bln kWh, but decreased by 3.7% at nuclear power plants to 197 bln kWh. Power generation at hydroelectric power plants added 0.8% to 186 bln kWh. Generation at renewable energy facilities over the eleven months plunged by 7.6%, to 7.2 bln kWh.
