MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Russia and the Central African Republic (CAR) have a number of obstacles to large-scale cooperation, including Western sanctions, Russian ambassador to Bangui Alexander Bikantov has told TASS in an interview.
"There are a number of obstacles for the development of large-scale cooperation, among them - unprecedented sanction pressure on our country, unfair restrictions imposed on the CAR within the framework of the Kimberley Process, the CAR's lack of access to the sea, and the need to find flexible patterns of trading and economic cooperation given the difficult fiscal situation in the CAR," Bikantov said.
He stressed that the CAR was looking forward to Russian investment in agriculture, livestock farming, mining, energy, construction and transportation.
"During their stay in St. Petersburg at the second Russia-Africa summit, the CAR government’s delegation, one of the most numerous of African delegations, displayed interest in building up cooperation with our country across the entire possible spectrum of interaction," Bikantov said.
