Creating gas hub in Turkey requires agreement with friendly EU countries

Nikolay Shulginov believes that it is necessary to negotiate not only with the Turkish side, but also for Europe

MOSCOW, October 13. /TASS/. Creating a gas hub in Turkey may require agreements with friendly European countries, Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov said on Thursday.

"Yesterday, the president spoke about the project to create a large gas hub in Turkey. First, you need to dive into the project, evaluate its conditions and significance. I think it is necessary to negotiate not only with the Turkish side, since we are creating it not only for the Turkish side, but also for Europe. Therefore, we need to understand its significance for European consumers and for friendly countries," he said.

According to Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have already given instructions to work on the possibility of creating a gas hub on the territory of the country. "Instructions were immediately given by both presidents - right during the negotiations - to work on this issue. Various options have even been discussed," he said.
