Chinese military officer reaffirms zero tolerance toward corruption in army

On Wednesday, the Communist Party of China CPC released the revised Regulations on CPC Disciplinary Action

BEIJING, December 28. /TASS/. Guidance in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is most stringent when it comes to corruption among the military, Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesperson Wu Qian said at a news briefing.

"The Chinese army has always adhered to the principle of controlling the armed forces in line with law, <…> and has pursued the policy of zero tolerance toward corruption and other evil trends," Wu said, when asked to comment on the latest revision of disciplinary regulations.

On Wednesday, the Communist Party of China (CPC) released the revised Regulations on CPC Disciplinary Action. The new, 30th chapter of the document envisages liability for party members accused of "any illegal actions that disrupt the socialist market economy rules."

In the latest clamp-down on corruption, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress removed Li Shangfu from the post of China’s defense minister in late October. By that time, the general had been missing from public view for almost two months. He was last seen addressing the 3rd Chinese-African forum on peace and security in Beijing in late August.
