King of Jordan to discuss humanitarian crisis in Gaza with Germany’s Scholz on March 17

Before departing from Berlin, Scholz said that maritime deliveries of humanitarian aid and dropping aid from planes do not satisfy all needs of the affected population

BEIRUT, March 17. /TASS/. King Abdullah II of Jordan will hold talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on March 17 in the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea coast on March 17, the Ammon news website reported.

According to the website, Scholz arrived in the kingdom within his regional tour on Sunday and will discuss the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip with the monarch.

Before departing from Berlin, Scholz said that maritime deliveries of humanitarian aid and dropping aid from planes do not satisfy all needs of the affected population.

"This is definitely not enough, it is necessary to open an additional ground corridor," the Chancellor underscored, according to the website.

On March 12, Queen Rania of Jordan called the humanitarian airdrops a "drop in the ocean." According to the queen, Israel "stripped the Palestinians of everything that is necessary to sustain human life: food, water, fuel and medicine."

On March 16, the Jordanian Air Force carried out yet another operation on air delivery of humanitarian cargo to the Gaza Strip together with the US Central Command. A total of 2.7 tons of food was dropped to the northern parts of the enclave. Previously, US President Joe Biden announced that Washington will establish a temporary port in Gaza for deliveries of humanitarian aid.
