Violence spilling out of Gaza due to US stance, says Russian UN ambassador

Vasily Nebenzya said that sympathy for the Palestinians has naturally riled up the Middle East

UNITED NATIONS, February 22. /TASS/. Violence has already spilled out of Gaza, engulfing the entire Middle East region due to the hardline stance of the US in the UN Security Council, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said.

"The stalemate in the Security Council, generated by the hardline position of the US, has led to violence spreading from Gaza to the entire region of the Middle East. We see the consequences in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen," Nebenzya told a meeting of the UN Security Council.

"Sympathy for the Palestinians has naturally riled up the Middle East. At the same time, Western countries, instead of finding an appropriate political solution, are trying to bomb the daylights out of the malcontents, as usual. The use of force by the Anglo-Saxon coalition against sovereign Syria, Iraq and Yemen poses a direct threat to international peace and security and undermines the world order based on the rule of international law and the central role of the United Nations," he stressed.
