WASHINGTON, December 12. /TASS/. The United States administration has added a number of companies and dry cargo ships to the Russian sanctions list to suppress alleged cooperation between Russia and North Korea in the military-technical sector, according to the documents of the US Department of State.
"As part of this action, we are also designating entities involved in the proliferation of military equipment and munitions from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to Russia," the US Department of State said on its website.
The Department of State has added to the sanctions list several shipping companies and related vessels that were involved in the transfer of ammunition between the DPRK and the Russian Federation, the US foreign policy department says. In particular, three dry cargo ships sailing under the Russian flag - Arkady Chernyshev, Kapitan Yakubovich and Maria, were blacklisted. According to the US authorities, the vessels are connected with the ASIA shipping company from Vladivostok and the ship-owning company IBEX Shipping located in Cyprus, against which Washington has also imposed restrictions. According to the United States, dry cargo ships allegedly repeatedly carried out deliveries of weapons and ammunition from the DPRK to Russia.
