BRUSSELS, November 17. /TASS/. The 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia will target diamond and pearl jewelry, the EUObserver portal reported with reference to the draft 12th package of sanctions.
According to the publication, the EU document details the proposed large-scale ban on Russian diamonds. The EU is to ban "unsorted diamonds", as well as most "non-industrial" and "synthetic ones," the portal said.
"Its list also includes any "articles of jewelry", "articles of natural and cultured pearls", and "goldsmiths' or silversmiths' wares... including diamonds," according to the portal.
The ban also stretches to "wristwatches, pocket-watches and other watches, including stopwatches, including diamonds," EUObserver added.
Previously, the European Commission proposed to include a ban on diamonds from the Russian Federation from January 1, 2024 in the next package of anti-Russian sanctions. The EU will also add a step-by-step ban on the import of Russian diamonds processed in third countries.
