MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The process of coordinating the evacuation of Russian nationals from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing may take about two weeks, Israeli Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi told TASS.
According to the ambassador, Egypt has set a limit of 500-600 people per day.
"It could take two weeks, if they let 600 [people] per day through," he said when asked how long it could take to coordinate the evacuation of Russians from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing. "It is simple arithmetic," he added, specifying that currently, there are about 7,000 people waiting to be evacuated.
The Israeli ambassador explained that Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen had met with various ambassadors, including Russian Ambassador Anatoly Viktorov, to touch upon evacuation issues.
However, Ben Zvi did not answer a question from TASS about why the Russians were not on the recently approved lists of CIS citizens.
A diplomatic source told TASS earlier that everything was in place to evacuate Russians, compatriots and citizens of CIS countries from Gaza, except approval from Tel Aviv, which is in charge of coordinating the lists of those crossing through the Rafah checkpoint.
