Israeli drone strikes armed Gaza militants in Jenin

TEL AVIV, October 25. /TASS/. A drone belonging to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck armed Gaza militants in the West Bank during the Israeli military's anti-terrorist operation in the city of Jenin, the army press service reported.

"A short while ago, IDF and Israel Border Police forces conducted counterterrorism activities in Wadi Bruqin, in the area of Jenin, and apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities," the military said. "During counterterrorism activity in the Jenin Camp, armed terrorists fired and hurled explosive devices at Israeli security forces. In response, an IDF UAV struck the terrorists. Hits were identified," the press service said, adding that "no injuries to Israeli security forces were reported."

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the Gaza-based Palestinian radical group Hamas staged a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. In response, Israel announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and began delivering air strikes on the enclave and certain parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are underway in the West Bank of the Jordan River as well.
