King of Bahrain ready to act as intermediary between Russia and Ukraine — embassy

MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is ready to act as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine, the Bahraini embassy in Moscow told TASS on Friday.

"His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain reiterates Bahrain’s readiness to act as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine to stop the conflict," the embassy said.

According to the embassy, Bahrain is ready "to play any role in the area of mediation between the two countries" immediately.

"Bahrain also calls on great powers to review and resume their commitments to maintain international peace and security, to avoid escalation and confrontation, and calls for directing global efforts to combat waves of extremist ideology by means of joint work to resolve any political, economic or social problems," the embassy said, citing the King.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country.
