US has no qualms about using any means to isolate Moscow in OPCW, says Russian envoy

Such approach is harmful to the organization itself because some crucial issues are being neglected, Russian Permanent Representative to the OPCW Alexander Shulgin stressed

MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. Washington has no qualms about using any means to isolate Moscow in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Russian Permanent Representative to the OPCW Alexander Shulgin said at a briefing on Tuesday.

"The Americans continue to set other countries against us and do everything possible to isolate us. They have no qualms about using any ways and means," he noted.

According to Shulgin, the United States seeks to engage the OPCW Technical Secretariat in these activities, taking advantage of the fact that representatives of the North Atlantic community, namely the Americans, hold most of the key positions. "However, it’s harmful to the cause, and to the organization itself. Some crucial issues are being neglected, particularly, the issue of chemical terrorism," the Russian diplomat stressed.

However, in Shulgin’s words, the US-led group of Western activists and the Technical Secretariat aren't concerned about it much because "the fight against Russia and attempts to contain Russia have taken center stage." "This is the main driver behind their actions and we need to keep it in mind," the Russian envoy added.
