US seeks parity with Russia in operation of diplomatic missions — Department of State

We believe that ready open lines of communication are indispensable, a spokesperson for the Department of State said

WASHINGTON, March 23. /TASS/. The United States does not want to see its embassy in Moscow closed down, but is keen on ensuring parity with Russia concerning the operation of diplomatic missions, a spokesperson for the Department of State said at a briefing on Wednesday when asked about the reciprocal expulsion of US diplomats by Moscow.

"We believe that ready open lines of communication are indispensable especially during the times of high tension, the times of conflict," he said adding "we want to see parity between [diplomatic missions in] Moscow and <…> in the United States."

"<….> our embassy on Moscow continues to be a locus of coordination and communication with Russian counterparts. We would not to see that close down," he added.

In early March, the United States ordered ten members of Russia’s Permanent Mission to the UN and a Russian working for the UN Secretariat to leave the country.
