Erdogan to visit Russia on April 8

ANKARA, March 23. / TASS /. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will visit Russia on April 8, 2019 the president's office said in a statement on Saturday.

"It is expected that our president will visit Russia on April 8, 2019," the communique· says. Currently, the Turkish Presidential administration has not disclosed any information about the program of the upcoming visit.

In February, Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey said that the Turkish side hopes that the presidents of Russia and Turkey will launch the Cross Year of Culture and Tourism between the two countries on April 8 at the Bolshoi Theater. Then, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Alexei Yerkhov, in an interview with Russian media said that the meeting between the two leaders might take place in April, and launch the cross-cultural Year of Culture and Tourism.

"The year 2019 is a special year for our bilateral relations, during which we need to intensify bilateral cooperation, develop tourism and much, much more. The cross cultural year will officially open at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow with a gala performance of Troy, which has created an uproar in Turkey," the Ambassador said. According to Yerkhov, during the Russia-Turkey cross-cultural year, many events will take place not only in the capitals, but also in other cities. "A famous singer Tarkan will tour in Kazan and Moscow. Turkish pianist Fazil Say is planning to go on tour to Moscow. There are no deadlines yet, but negotiations are already underway. I think Muscovites, and maybe residents of other cities, will be pleased to get acquainted with a very interesting costume show and scenery for such a favorite TV series, as "The Magnificent Age".
