Russians perceive social justice as being on the rise in country — poll

According to VCIOM, 50% of Russians replied that for them social justice is about welfare guarantees, 23% defined justice through economic benefits, and another 14% spoke about legal protections

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. About 26% of Russians surveyed believe that the country has become more socially just over the past year, the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VCIOM) reports, publishing the data on the organization's website.

"Over the past year, our society has become more socially fair, with a quarter of Russians thinking so (26%, +10 p.p. by 2020), and the share of optimists exceeding the share of pessimists (22%, -4 p.p. by 2020)," the message says.

At the same time, 22% of respondents said that society has become less socially fair, and 44% believe that the level of social justice has not changed.

According to VCIOM, 50% of Russians replied that for them social justice is about welfare guarantees, 23% defined justice through economic benefits, and another 14% spoke about legal protections.

According to the survey, 31% of respondents believe that social justice means that all people are treated equally under the law, 16% - in the economic model of social justice (there are no rich and poor), another 16% - in ensuring that everyone's position is determined by the quality of their work.

The VCIOM-Sputnik All-Russian telephone survey was conducted on February 18, 2024. 1,600 Russians over the age of 18 took part in the survey. The margin of error with a 95% probability does not exceed 2.5%.
