FSB foils plot by Ukrainian agent to blow up military recruitment office north of Moscow

According to the report, no security personnel or civilians were hurt in the operation

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled a planned terrorist attack on a military recruitment office in Tver, capital of the Tver Region northwest of Moscow, and neutralized a Ukrainian intelligence agent who was behind the plot, the FSB’s press center reported.

"In the Tver Region, a plot by a Russian national recruited by the Ukrainian intelligence services to carry out a terror attack was foiled," the FSB said. "Acting on instructions from his case officers, [he] took a means of destruction and an improvised explosive device from a cache for the purpose of using these items to blow up a military recruitment office in Tver. The attacker put up armed resistance and was neutralized," the FSB added.

According to the FSB, no security personnel or civilians were hurt in the operation. An improvised explosive device, ready for use, and an RGD-5 hand grenade were found at the scene. A criminal case has been initiated.

Earlier, the Ukrainian agent had gathered and passed on information to his handlers about the Tver Region’s military and energy sector facilities for material compensation, the FSB concluded.
