MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Should the conclusions by US intel, published by the New York Times, saying that Kiev had a hand in the murder of Russian journalist Darya Dugina turn out to be true, then this would be a very positive signal, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday. Hopefully, this is not a ploy by the US to absolve itself of responsibility for Kiev’s potential future crimes, he noted.
According to The New York Times, American intelligence thinks that the Ukrainian authorities are involved in Dugina’s murder.
"If this is true, if this is not fake news, since, after all, we live in a world of fake news items, then, of course, this is a positive [sign] that US intelligence agreed with this. It’s a bit late, but it did concur. And, of course, let’s hope that this is not an attempt by our American colleagues, having some information in their possession, to absolve themselves of the responsibility for some plots for future terror attacks that the Ukrainian state, [or] the Ukrainian regime may be involved in," the Kremlin official said.
Replying to a question as to which information about this crime Moscow currently has, Putin’s press secretary explained: "The Kremlin has the information that our intelligence services had from the very start." "The involvement of the Ukrainian state in this terrorist attack, in this murder of a young woman was proven, and demonstrated by our security services. All the measures on uncovering the perpetrators were taken rather swiftly, while those who ordered it were obvious," Peskov explained.
Darya Dugina, 29, was killed on the evening of August 20, when a bomb planted in her Toyota Land Cruiser exploded near Bolshiye Vyazemy in the Moscow Region. On August 22, the FSB Public Relations Center told TASS that her murder had been solved. According to the agency, it was masterminded by the Kiev regime’s intelligence agencies and carried out by Ukrainian citizen Natalya Vovk. Later, the FSB reported that another member of the Ukrainian sabotage and terror group, Ukrainian citizen Bogdan Tsyganenko hatched this murder plot together with Vovk.
