Meta corporation [recognized as extremist in Russia - TASS] cannot be considered to be a reliable partner in countering the use of information and communication technologies for terrorist purposes, representative of the Russian permanent delegation to the UN Oleg Mikhailov said at the meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee.

"I regret saying facts are in place when private foreign Internet companies do not block propaganda materials of terrorism organizations and extremists performing or promoting acts of violence," Mikhailov said.

"Private companies sometimes even fully move to the evil side. In particular, Meta lifted the ban in social networks owned by it to calls for violence and murders in respect of Russians. Excuse of the extremist activity and incitement of murders and violence in respect of representatives of a certain nationality or origin are unacceptable," the diplomat said. "In this regard the mentioned company cannot be regarded at all as a reliable and responsible partner in matters of countering the use of information and communication technologies for terrorist purposes," he added.
