Photos capture ‘bear’s face’ on Mars

The rocks, according to researchers who studied the image taken by the satellite, look like a bear’s face

NEW YORK, January 27. /TASS/. NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter satellite has taken some photos of the Mars surface that resemble a bear’s face.

The satellite took the pictures of some rocks on Mars on December 12. The rocks, according to researchers at the University of Arizona who studied the image, look like a bear’s face.

"There's a hill with a V-shaped collapse structure (the nose), two craters (the eyes), and a circular fracture pattern (the head)," the university said in a statement.

The Business Insider news portal said the human mind tends to look for recognizable shapes in what people see. In 2019, for example, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spotted the "Star Trek" logo on the planet. Some people said in 2011 they saw the face of Mahatma Gandhi on the Google Mars map.

The US MRO satellite was launched into the Mars orbit in 2005.
