Putin commends 'balanced' peace initiatives on Ukraine from China, Brazil, South Africa

Unlike Western countries which "in fact have been waging a proxy war on us" in Ukraine, China, Brazil and South Africa are neutral governments that have stayed away from the conflict, the President stated

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin lauded the peace proposals on Ukraine put forward by China, Brazil and South Africa, as balanced and sincere attempts to resolve the situation there.

"As regards the peace initiatives [proposed] by the People’s Republic of China, Brazil and South Africa, <…> these represent a genuine effort to find a solution. We view this as a balanced attempt without imposing anything on either Ukraine or Russia," the president said at the combined Q&A session and his annual press conference.

Unlike Western countries which "in fact have been waging a proxy war on us" in Ukraine, China, Brazil and South Africa are neutral governments that have stayed away from the conflict, Putin stated. Besides, peace initiatives from the West leave much to be desired, he added.
