MELITOPOL, April 8. /TASS/. No one was hurt as a Ukrainian kamikaze drone attempted to attack the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, and the radiation level remained unchanged, Yevgeniya Yashina, the plant’s communications director, told TASS.
Ukrainian drones hit the plant three times on April 7. The hits landed in the area of the cargo port and the canteen that are located on the premises of the plant. A truck unloading food was damaged. Three people were injured. Also, one of the drones hit the roof of Power Unit 6. On April 8, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone was again shot down over the plant, with the wreckage crashing into the roof of Power Unit nit 6.
"There is no safety threat. The radiation background is unchanged. No one was injured. We will definitely show the IAEA inspectors the spot where it hit," Yashina said.
The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is located in the town of Energodar, has the capacity of about 6 GW and is Europe’s largest. It has been controlled by Russian troops since the end of February 2022. Ukraine has regularly shelled residential areas in Energodar and the plant since then, using artillery, drones and multiple launch rocket systems.
