MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. By introducing new export restrictions Japan has confirmed its anti-Russia position, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Japan has fully joined the practice of illegal sanctions and restrictions against our country, and has taken an unfriendly position towards us," he said.
Speaking about what the Kremlin thought about the ban, Peskov said that it was "the same as the previous ones."
On April 5, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan supplemented the list of goods banned for export to Russia. Tokyo added 164 product categories to the initial list including motor oil, lithium-ion batteries, pipes for gas and oil pipelines, nitrocellulose, etc. These restrictions will come into force on April 17.
The ban on the import of non-industrial diamonds of Russian origin will come into force on May 10. It covers stones ranging from one carat. In the case of importing diamonds which are less than one carat, appropriate permission is required from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
