Russian presidential election marked by high level of integrity — Kremlin spokesman

Earlier, the website of the nation’s leading polling agency uploaded data indicating that 72% of the surveyed people trust the results of the presidential election

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. Experts have confirmed that Russia's presidential election was above reproach, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing.

"The analysis presented yesterday by Fyodorov (Valery Fyodorov - Director General of the Russian Public Opinion Research Center, VCIOM - TASS) from VCIOM is noteworthy. It substantiates the integrity of the election; these parameters of integrity are also absolutely unprecedented," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.

"The fact that the election was absolutely clean and that this indicator is at the highest possible level - this cannot be disputed, it once again emphasizes both the unprecedented nature, significance and uniqueness of the victory that President [Vladimir] Putin won in these conditions," Peskov emphasized.

Earlier, the website of the nation’s leading polling agency uploaded data indicating that 72% of the surveyed people trust the results of the presidential election. In addition, compared to surveys from previous elections, this year a record number of Russians (65%) believe that the results are reliable and consistent with the will of the voters. About one in ten (12%) thinks that the election results are not trustworthy, the pollster said.

The level of trust in the Russian presidential election among the Russian people has hit a 20-year high, Fyodorov told TASS.

"Usually, the bigger the margin of victory, the greater the doubt among people. The higher the voter turnout, the more political questions and accusations about how impossible these numbers are. We rightly expected such a situation, but our poll revealed the contrary. Trust is high," he said.
