MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. A ban on political campaigning came into force in Russia on Friday, the first day of the presidential election.
According to the Russian Central Election Commission’s earlier decision, the vote will take place on March 15-17. In line with the Russian electoral laws, "campaigning is prohibited on the day of the vote and on the day that precedes the vote." However, this rule is not applicable if the voting process spans over a few days. Therefore, this time candidates had a chance to continue their campaigns until March 15.
The ban came into force in all Russian regions at midnight local time.
