MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. More than 2.55 mln voters across Russia have applied to cast their ballots via distance electronic voting (DEV) in the Russian presidential election, with more than 1 mln applications received through the Mobile Voter app, according to data presented on screens in the offices of the Central Election Commission (CEC) during a meeting of commissioners with members of the Russian Federation Council, or upper house of parliament.
To date, 2,550,644 applications have been submitted from voters in 28 regions to participate in DEV, with 1,025,736 applications having been submitted for voting on location. The deadline for submitting applications is March 11.
The Federation Council formally designated March 17, 2024, as the date of Russia’s presidential election. The CEC then decided that voting would take place over three days, on March 15-17, 2024, making it the first-ever three-day presidential election in Russian history.
