Russia’s UN envoy says Israel started ‘mopping up’ West Bank long time ago

Russia’s UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya said that at the same time in the West Bank "the demolition of Palestinian homes continues unless they have Israeli building permits, which are almost impossible for local residents to obtain

UNITED NATIONS, December 20. /TASS/. Israel has been mopping up the West Bank for quite a while, regardless of any terrorist threats, said Russia’s UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya.

"Israel has been mopping up the West Bank for a long time, even before the events of October 7 and without any link to terrorist security threats, which West Jerusalem is using as a slogan for its unprecedented operation in the Gaza Strip," he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The diplomat said that at the same time in the West Bank "the demolition of Palestinian homes continues unless they have Israeli building permits, which are almost impossible for local residents to obtain." In addition, Israel's "illegal settlement policy," including "financing of Israeli settlement expansions," continues unabated.

"Such plans are approved by the Israeli authorities in parallel with the systematic destruction of Gaza," Nebenzya said.
