Putin thanks al-Sisi for help in evacuation of Russian citizens from Gaza Strip

The Russian president thanked his Egyptian counterpart for helping to deliver humanitarian supplies from Russia to the Gaza Strip

MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for help in evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip in a telephone conversation.

"The President of Russia thanked Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for his assistance in evacuating Russian citizens and members of their families, as well as delivering humanitarian aid from Russia to the Gaza Strip," according to a statement released by the Kremlin’s press service.

The Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said earlier that Putin and al-Sisi had agreed on continued efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Palestinian sector among other things. They also noted the importance of coordinated international efforts on reaching fair and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian problem, he added.
