MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss the Ukraine conflict at his upcoming meetings with foreign leaders, Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov told reporters.
He pointed out that Putin intended to "discuss regional conflicts." "As for regional conflicts, apart from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is currently in its hottest phase, we will definitely discuss the situation surrounding [Russia’s] special military operation; it is inevitable," Ushakov noted.
According to him, foreign leaders "may find it important to hear Putin’s assessment of how the situation is unfolding." However, the Russian presidential aide specified that those discussions "have nothing to do with the Jeddah meeting," that is, the consultations on resolving the Ukrainian crisis that took place in Saudi Arabia in August.
The Russian president will travel to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on December 6; he will hold talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow on December 7.
Riyadh has at various levels expressed its readiness to act as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine, highlighting support for any efforts aimed at finding a political solution to the conflict. On February 26, Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud visited Ukraine for the first time since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. On March 9, he made a trip to Moscow, holding talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
