Russia, Latin America see eye to eye on Middle East crisis — Lavrov

The top Russian diplomat noted that Moscow sees Caracas' active role in strengthening integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean

MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has noted that Russia and Latin American and Caribbean countries share nearly the same position with regard to the situation in the Gaza Strip and in the Middle East in general.

"We know that on Venezuela's initiative, the ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, ALBA - TASS) group put out a statement today regarding the unfolding situation around the Gaza Strip and in the Middle East. We would like to point out that our positions are nearly identical," the minister said while opening talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto.

Besides, Lavrov noted that Moscow sees Caracas' active role in strengthening integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean. "We are grateful to you (the leadership of Venezuela - TASS) for promoting the development of ties between Russia and the Latin American region," Lavrov added.
